While I was in Melbourne for VAMFF, I went along to The Myer Style Series: Australian Designer Runway. There were so many amazing trends for the Autumn/Winter season but here are my favourites:

Bumbags

I know that my younger self scoffed at these and I probably, at one point, vowed to never be seen sporting one but I’m really starting to love the trend! Not to mention how convenient it would be to wear your belongings around your waist or even wear it as a cross body bag – no more switching from shoulder to shoulder (or walking on a tilt). This was probably the biggest trend of the whole VAMFF season; sported on runways at the Royal Exhibition Building as well as by attendees. My top picks are from The Daily Edited & Nakedvice.

Balloon/Statement Sleeves

Okay, this is probably my favourite trend at the moment. I can’t help it, I’m obsessed. Statement sleeves are the perfect way to lift an otherwise dull shirt or dress. And some of my favourite designers are on board with this trend, including: Zimmermann, Aje and LIFEwithBIRD.

Tailoring

Tailored garments may never go out of fashion, but this season in particular is all about the power suit. And absolutely anyone can pull this look off! Some of my favourite suits are from Zara, Country Road and ASOS. With this “trend” it’s okay to spend that bit extra because you know it’s going to last you a long time.

Contrast Stitching

And this is definitely my second favourite trend. Contrast stitching, to me, instantly makes a piece look more high end and luxurious. Zara, ASOS and Acler do this trend so, so well!
