And why it changed my life
Santorini Skin lives by the statement: ‘The Cure For Anything Is Salt Water’, and this is exactly what I’ve been told my whole life. As a child, if I had a cut or my eczema or asthma had flared up my mum would tell me to head to the beach, either to soak the damaged limb in salt water or just to simply breathe in the fresh sea air.
I first heard about Santorini Skin through my Instagram, sitting pretty in its distinct and simply beautiful packaging. I quickly learnt that this was the work of one of my favourite Aussie bloggers, Jasmin Howell of Friend In Fashion. So, naturally I had to try it.
Santorini Skin is Australian made, 100% natural, enriched with Vitamins A, B and E, and is chemical and paraben free. If you’re a frequent reader, you’ll know that I have quite sensitive skin. So, in the past year I have began focussing on making my skincare include more organic and natural products. And this brand is exactly what I needed to give a little luxury to my regime!
Elysian Pink Crystal Sea Scrub – $24.95
The scrub trend started a while back and, after Frank Body really took off, I was desperately keen to get involved. I purchased one of their original coffee body scrubs to test it out, but as much as I love my coffee I didn’t love the fact that I smelt like it. Luckily, the scent of this Santorini Skin one reminds me of lollies I had as a child—I can’t quite put my finger on which ones. I think it’s definitely got to do with the grapefruit essential oil and funnily enough I love grapefruit too!
I applied this in the bath and it left my skin feeling soft and glowing. It’s the perfect exfoliant, and it paired beautifully with the Aegean Pink Crystal Soak I was indulging myself in. It’s also said to soothe sore muscles, so I’ll definitely be giving this a go after my next workout. However I would only use this once a week to make it last as long as I can!
Directions: Gently massage a handful of pink crystals into damp skin in a circular motion. Rinse Well. Use 2-3 times per week.
Ingredients: Himalayan Pink Salt (Sodium Chloride), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweat Almond) Oil, Simmondsia Chinesis (Jojoba) Oil, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Essential Oil.
Aegean Pink Crystal Soak – $24.95
There’s nothing that I love more than catching up on my weekly vlogs (my latest obsession is Song Of Style) whilst soaking in a bath. I’m a very on the go person, whether it’s work, blogging, freelancing, or actually having a social life—so this is my little bit of me time. For years I have struggled with Lush bath bombs and melts. They really suck you in with the beautiful smells, on point branding and gorgeous designs, yet no matter how many times I tried, it would always flare up my eczema—meaning I’d have to shower afterwards and put up with the red dots and the itchiness for a few days. So when I read an interview that Jasmine started her Santorini Skin journey to find natural products that wouldn’t flare up her husband’s psoriasis, I was keen to see if this actually worked with my eczema.
I can honestly say that this was the most relaxing bath I have ever had. Never before had I tried a peppermint bath, but it’s definitely a game changer. I’ve been trying to manage my stress better lately as it’s really taking a toll and I read that peppermint is excellent for helping you to relax. I also love how it clears your sinuses. But the part I was most excited about was that it agreed with my skin and I had absolutely no rashes afterwards!
Directions: Dissolve under warm (not hot ) running water. Soak for up to 20 minutes.
Ingredients: Himalayan Pink Salt (Sodium Chloride), Dead Sea Salt, Epsom Salt, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Essential Oil
You can shop the whole range here, you won’t regret it!
