Mario Badescu: Worth The Hype?

Yes, Yes, A Thousand Times Yes.

So by now you’ve probably heard the rumours: Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion works wonders for acne. And I’m here to tell you that, yes, that’s true. But that’s not the only product I’ve tried of Mario Badescu’s and now that I’ve got quite the collection I thought it was time for a review. I’ve written the list in order of the products I would recommend the most to the least:

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion – $24

Let’s dive straight into it. I picked this one up when I was in Singapore earlier this year and I haven’t looked back. This really does everything that it promises: a spot treatment to dry up your much unwanted acne overnight. And no matter how many times my mum shakes the bottle (you’re not meant to shake it, seriously) I will continue to use this all-saving product!

Acne Facial Cleanser – $22

I also picked up this one in Singapore and after a long day of wearing makeup in the humidity, my face was feeling very unclean. At first I was a little unsure about this product as I normally get soft cleansers for sensitive skin but I was told that it would suit all skin types and I decided to just try it! I noticed a definite difference in my skin within the first week of using it; my skin was no longer a blotchy mess and it felt much cleaner!

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater – $9

I overuse this, in the best way. This is such a great pick me up, whether I’m spending the day makeup free, or I’ve just stepped out of the shower, I can spritz this on my skin and it feels so clean and fresh afterwards. I don’t see how you could go wrong with this product (and for $9!)

Mario Badescu Calma Mask – $31

Masks are always great, but I’m starting to lean more towards sheet masks. Maybe it’s because there’s less clean up so it takes less time? But I also love that you can massage the excess product into the skin instead of stripping your skin of all the goodness. In saying that, this mask makes me feel like I’m starting a fresh; a clean slate. It’s then ready for my toner and moisturiser. The Calma Mask is also a great one for people with sensitive skin, it doesn’t irritate at all (it just doesn’t smell super, super great!) I do this once every two weeks, usually on a Sunday when I’m taking time to take care of my skin!

Mario Badescu Anti-Acne Serum – $28

This serum is a great little add-on to my daily skincare regime, although I’m not sure how much effect it truly has. I definitely think it helps to reduce hormonal acne to just a few spots though. I also like that I’m being proactive by applying this before the spots appear!
