As the weather gets colder, I’m quickly discovering that my wardrobe is definitely not equipped for a Melbourne winter. Last month, I did quite a lot (read: too much) shopping, stocking up on heattech, jackets and basics from UNIQLO. I went to my first sample sale – a Camilla and Marc one in Prahran, explored more of Fitzroy and Collingwood, and went to a Mercedes me x Fashion event (The Fashion Crowd in conversation with Kristy Wu, Jess Alizzi and Jacquie Alexander).

PLACES I’VE VISITED

BENTWOOD FITZROY – 237 Napier Street Fitzroy, VIC
Having already been here once on a trip to Melbourne a few years back, I knew it would become one of my go-to brunch places as soon as I moved here. Last time I had the eggs benny with braised beef cheek and sweet potato waffles, and this time I had the hotcakes with raspberry curd, strawberries, meringue and mascarpone – I would honestly recommend either!

LULULEMON OUTLET STORE – 30 Rupert St, Collingwood VIC
This place is definitely worth the trip, with a huge range of sports bras, leggings, jumpers and tops. I picked up a jumper and it’s perfect to wear to and from classes.

WHAT’S NEW

ASSEMBLY LABEL SWEATSHIRT
After discovering an Assembly Label store on Brunswick St in Fitzroy on my first weekend in Melbourne, I knew I’d be back to stock up on some basics. My favourite purchase was their Allusive Fleece Grey Marle jumper with zip accents at the sides. I’ll definitely be back to pick up some more pieces for winter layering!

TATCHA ONE STEP CAMELLIA CLEANSING OIL
Since moving to Melbourne my skin has seriously been playing up, struggling to adapt to the cooler climate. And so, I’ve been reading up on how to take care of sensitive skin and seeing where there’s room for improvement in my skincare regime. The first thing I found was that sensitive skin responds well to cleansing oils, even more so than cream cleansers. Within a week of using this Tatcha one twice a day, I could definitely see the improvement in my skin’s texture. The oil is hydrating and easily removes all my makeup for clean fresh skin.

GO-TO FACE HERO OIL
Last month I said this was next on my to-buy list and, because I’m a skincare fanatic, I of course went out and bought it not long after. Continuing with the theme of oils, I decided to introduce this lightweight and botanically sourced face oil into my skincare regime to give a little more hydration and nourishment. Containing essential fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants, this worked perfectly to boost my skin’s health within a week – no more flaky skin.

SKIN UPDATE

This month I decided to visit a facialist in Melbourne to try and get my skin under control, with my number one concern being my skin’s hydration. I had a beautiful, relaxing experience, and had the chance to try out a few new brands that aren’t as popular in Adelaide, such as Sothys and Aspect. I’m currently using Sothys’ sensitive range for the next month to try and breathe some life back into my dull and dehydrated skin. So far so good, but I’ll keep you posted!
