How is it already halfway through March?! I’ve finally relocated and settled into Melbourne life and let me tell you, moving to a new city is tough! February was a bit of a blur; packing boxes, saying goodbye, relocating, unpacking boxes and trying to establish my new home. But I did find some time to indulge and explore.
PLACES I’VE VISITED
CAKE BY JENNA MARIE – 3/20-24 Metro Parade, Mawson Lakes SA
If you live in Adelaide and you haven’t been here, then you’re missing out! By far the best macarons in the state, and her pink white hot chocolate is pretty heavenly also!
ASSEMBLY LABEL – 243 Brunswick St, Fitzroy VIC
My first weekend living in Melbourne, I went to Fitzroy and I just had to go to the Assembly Label store. It’s honestly so aesthetic, I can’t wait to go back and buy one of everything!
SIR CHARLES – 121 Johnston St, Fitzroy VIC
Anyone close to me will know how much I love a good French Toast, and dare I say it – this is my favourite one to date. With summer berries, gingerbread crumb and of course mascarpone cream, what more could you want out of a breakfast? Will definitely be heading back here!
CHANEL, THE KARL LAGERFELD CAMPAIGNS BOOK
Moving into my own space meant that it was time to invest in some coffee table books. I originally wanted the Tom Ford one, but this is a much more affordable alternative and a better size for the space I have. And with the recent passing of the fashion icon, this is a very special piece.
OSC LED ILLUMINATED 2-SIDE MAKEUP MIRROR
Looking for a lamp for my bedside table was extremely difficult and expensive! So I decided to go for this LED makeup mirror and use it as a lamp instead. I love the minimalist design, and the built-in tray makes my bedside table appear much more organised!
ELIZABETH ARDEN PRO SENSITIVE SKIN BASIC CLEANSER
Recently my skin therapist (read my skin journey here) used this on my skin in one of my treatments and she commented on how well my skin reacted to it. I have extremely sensitive skin, and this cleanser doesn’t irritate my skin or strip it of its natural oils at all.
This month’s major lesson was in trusting myself. Moving away from the safety net of my home, friends and family was extremely daunting but in the long run I knew it would be the right decision. Adelaide has been good to me, but in the industry I’m in it can only take you so far. I’m excited to take my career to the next step in Melbourne and so am constantly reminding myself of why I’m here.
NEXT MONTH’S GOALS
March (or what’s left of it!) is for refocusing on my work; applying for jobs daily, but then being satisfied and creatively driven through the freelance work that I do have. I’m very good at being stressed, so I’m trying to slow down, get my work done and enjoy the freedom of visiting a coffee shop whenever I want!
How was your February? X
