How To Pull Off Black In Summer

Wear Black All Year Round

It’s no secret that black is my favourite colour, and while most people tend to avoid it during the warmer months, I don’t! So, here are my top tips for wearing black in summer:

Layer A Dress With A Tee

This trend has been everywhere lately and the girls from Twice Blessed really converted me when they styled a black tee with their Bec + Bridge white slip with black spots. The key to pairing dresses with tees is to opt for a tight t-shirt with a spaghetti strap slip dress. I got this Comme Des Garçons Play tee in a size small, which is a perfect fit for me, so it’s great for wearing under dresses. This Tobi dress is the perfect shape and the material gives a bit (so you can sit down comfortably) it’s also short in length so you won’t overheat.

Pair With Colour

Break up your summer all-black outfit with a pop of colour. From a coloured neck scarf, like this one from Subtitled, to a coloured bag, shoes or even a bright lipstick. You can also pair your black skirt with a coloured tee, but if you’re a sucker for a black and white combo like me, then opt for a tee with a bit of colour to itthis Comme Des Garçons tee is perfect for that.

Make it Casual

Adding playful touches like novelty slides, sunglasses or scarves in your hair can really transform your outfit. An Australian summer is a very relaxed time, so always look for those little things you can add to your outfit, play around, have fun!
