Public holidays only come around every so often but with every one I find myself doing something completely unrelated to the day’s purpose. Adelaide Cup Day was no different. With my beautiful best friend down in Adelaide for the weekend it was off to the Fringe for us. Unfortunately for us time management and organisation has never really been our strong point, so I suppose it shouldn’t come as a surprise that we rocked up to the Royal Croquet Club at 10am when in fact it opens at 12pm. Luckily it was a beautiful morning so we made our way through the deserted streets of Adelaide to Victoria Square.
The Garden Of Unearthly Delights was just spurring into action as we arrived and the first thing we saw was a groundsman in a dress and boots with a much more impressive braid than we could ever pull off! The garden was beautiful as always, full of; stalls, rides, tents, performers and of course our favourite: food.
With our feet killing us (from our poor shoe choices, looks over comfort right?), we decided to go for a bit of a rest and wander through the Botanic Gardens. To finish our day we ventured back to the Royal Croquet Club and gawked at the wall of bicycles and the price of one cider.
