If you’re anything like me and your mind’s constantly ticking with your never ending to do list, taking the time out to just relax can be pretty hard to do. So here are a few things I like to do to when I’m getting stressed out and know it’s time to relax:
Have A Bath
The best way to unwind after a long stressful day is with a bath. For me, having a bath means candles, bath salts/bubble bath and usually a vlog (is anyone else obsessed with Zoella?) For candles, you want something light and calming like this Coconut and Lime one, make sure it’s a scent you love! Add some bath salts to the water and just relax – the one pictured is a Himalayan Rock Bath Salt but I also love, love the Elysian Pink Crystal Sea Scrub from Santorini Skin, the peppermint scent is great for relaxing!
You can also use the time in the bath to exfoliate with a body scrub – and yes, this Bergamont & Grapefruit one smells delicious.
Read A Book
We all know that screen time before bed makes getting to sleep that much harder. Instead, let your mind relax: hop into bed and read a chapter of your favourite book of the moment. Right now, I’m loving ‘You Do You’ by Sarah Knight and ‘Little Black Book’ by Otegha Uwagba.
Go For A Walk
Exercising is a great way to get you out of the house and feel better about yourself. It can also be quite relaxing depending on your location – I normally opt for a beach walk, with a slight detour to the local cafe.
Coffee Break (minus the coffee)
If you’re stressed, the last thing you should be consuming is coffee. Instead, have a break by making yourself a hot beverage (hot chocolate or tea) and take a few minutes to yourself.
While all these things technically count as your ‘me time’, it’s also important that you do the thing you love most. Whether it’s spending time with family, painting or binge watching Gilmore Girls for the seventeenth time. It’s important that you’re making time for the things that make you most happy, without feeling guilty for doing them!
What helps you relax?
